I have been enamored with photography since I was a child; I spent a lot of time at my grandmother’s house and she would let me take endless photos with her Polaroid. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I started really pursuing photography. Mostly, I wanted to be able to take REALLY GOOD pictures to document my children’s lives. I feel so honored that now I actually get to do that for my clients! And there’s nothing sweeter than starting at the beginning.
Maggie reached out a few weeks ago asking if I would be interested in doing her maternity session and photographing her delivery. She and her husband, Hunter, have chosen to be surprised by the baby’s gender. “I REALLY want someone to capture the look on Hunter’s face when we find out if it’s a girl or a boy!” She wants to document the “raw, pure emotion.” I, of course, am ecstatic. Birthing is such a sacred thing, and I cannot wait to witness this baby’s earth-side debut.
In the meantime, I went searching for the perfect maternity session spot “with water,” per her request. And boy, did I find it! I stumbled on this gorgeous location when I was on a mother-son date with my 3 year old. Actually, I was looking for a different spot, but that’s the thing about Northwest Arkansas; there is beauty all around just waiting to be explored.
Hunter and Maggie joined me just before sunset the night of their session. It was sweltering but do I even need to say that? I mean, it IS August in Arkansas. The cool creek was glorious for sweet Maggie to dip her toes! Watching these two interact with each other was so wonderful. They are in that magical, beautiful season of first pregnancy. Joy, expectation, hope…they’re literally feeling everything. On top of that, Hunter commented, “I love Maggie pregnant. She actually sits down and eats a full meal with me!” My time with these two was so great. They had me “oohing” and “ahhing” and laughing. And I can guarantee I’ll be sobbing when that precious baby arrives next month.
