Welcoming twins means twice the joy, twice the snuggles, and yes, sometimes, twice the unpredictability. But that’s exactly what makes lifestyle newborn photography so special and unique.
Recently, I had the honor of photographing identical twin girls at home with their parents and sweet dog Belle, and the result was a session filled with light, intention, and so much love. If you’re expecting twins and curious about what an in-home newborn session can really look and feel like, here’s a behind-the-scenes look.

What Is Lifestyle Newborn Photography?
Unlike studio-style newborn photos, lifestyle newborn photography happens in the comfort of your home; no props or poses required. These sessions are all about connection, authenticity, and letting your baby (or babies!) lead.
We’ll use the spaces that feel the most like you: the couch where you’ve been snuggling them for hours, the bed where you all finally got some rest, the sun-drenched dining room where you take your coffee in one hand and a baby in the other. These photos are rooted in real life in the best way.

Making Space for Real Moments
This session took place mid-morning in the family’s beautifully designed home in Northwest Arkansas. The mom and dad (co-founders of Arbor Vitae Chiropractic) have curated a space that’s both cozy and chic, with thoughtful touches and gorgeous light that made each room feel like magic.
We photographed in several spaces: their dining room (with light pouring in from two sides), their calm and cozy bedroom, the living room, and even their back patio. The girls were having trouble settling at one point, and I’ve learned from experience that fresh air can work wonders. Sure enough, a few minutes outside and they relaxed right into sleep.

Slowing Down with Twins
One of my favorite parts of this session? Watching these new parents move together so seamlessly. They’ve embraced the slower pace that twins often require, and it shows: in how gently they handled feedings, how quietly they communicated, how present they were with each other and their daughters.
Dad, a chiropractor, has been treating the girls since birth, and it was truly the most relaxed I’ve ever seen newborns. This family’s natural approach to parenting completely aligns with my own heart for these sessions…slow, calm, intentional.

Styling the Session: Effortless, Neutral, Comfortable
I sent Mom my monthly style guides to plan outfits, and she chose a beautiful soft ruffled dress from J.Crew. The girls wore sweet neutral rompers from H&M, and Dad wore olive chinos and a light button-down. Barefoot: my favorite for in-home sessions.
This session is a great reminder that you don’t need elaborate outfits or backdrops for beautiful photos. When everyone is comfortable, it shows.

A Note to Expecting Twin Moms
If you’re getting ready to welcome twins, I want you to hear this loud and clear: you don’t have to have it all perfect.
There’s so much grace in these early days. Babies might eat more than expected. You might feel tired or unsure. It’s okay. These sessions are not about stiff poses or perfect timing; they’re about connection. I come in with a flexible plan, plenty of experience with newborns (and toddlers and dogs!), and a calm presence so that you can simply be with your babies.
