I’m so excited to share this guy’s senior session with you.  Reece, his mama, Lisa, and I had such a nice time last weekend.  Well, Lisa and I had fun ๐Ÿ˜‰  I’m not 100% sure about Reece.  Apparently, spending 3 hours in the 90+ degree heat having photos taken while the Razorbacks are playing is not every 17 year old boy’s idea of a good time.  Who knew?!  But in all seriousness, he was a natural in front of the camera and totally humored us for what turned out to be one of my favorite portrait sessions to date.

We started this session out on the baseball diamond at Life Way Christian School where Reece plays short stop.  He’s also on the basketball and golf teams.  It was really fun just having him toss a baseball around and get comfortable while we chatted a little.  I was able to grab some really non-painful, candid shots ๐Ÿ™‚

We left the school and headed to their family farm.  It was stunningly beautiful, especially that evening.  Picture green rolling hills and hay bales, a 100 year old farmhouse, cattle grazing, a cool flowing creek, and that perfect golden hour lighting.  We did some traditional (well, as traditional as I get) portraits and then he changed into his “real life” clothes and went fishing in the creek.  Reece and his siblings are the fourth generation to spend their summers swimming and fishing in that creek. It was obvious to me right away that he was completely in his element there.  Previously, I had asked Lisa how she’ll remember 17 year old Reece. Toward the end of the session, while he was fishing, she said, “This. THIS is how I will always think of him.”

Spending that evening with Lisa and Reece was so sweet.   I’m a mom of boys, too, so I really enjoyed seeing the interaction between this mother and son at this stage.  It was such a great reminder to me that the clock is ticking.  Before I can blink an eye, my darling little booger pickin’ boys are going to be big and strong young men.  Every single minute is precious and sacred.  I can only hope they love Jesus, baseball, and their mama, just like Reece.

Reece-Thank you for letting me capture your senior portraits!  I know your senior year is going to be the best one yet!

ABOUT leslie

Now that I'm a mom, I know the secret: we don't know everything. We are growing and changing, right alongside our little ones.
Motherhood is sanctifying, changing me in ways I never expected.

My days may seem filled with NERF bullets, diapers, and endless laundry, but they are really filled with moments of profound connection and love as I raise my babies.

Through my lens, I strive to celebrate the beauty of motherhood in all its forms. From the messy chaos to the quiet moments, I want to honor the sacred bond between you and your child and capture the joy and wonder that it brings.
