As a photographer, my passion is capturing the beautiful, fleeting moments of pregnancy and the joy that comes with expecting a little one. NWA maternity photography holds a special place in my heart because I get to document such a meaningful time for families in my community, just as they’re about to embark on a new chapter of their own.
A few years ago, while six months pregnant with our first child, my husband and I decided it was the perfect time to buy our first home. (Yes, you can laugh—it was a bold decision!) The thought of bringing our sweet baby home to a house that was ours just felt so special.
I swear we looked at seven hundred houses, and none of them felt quite right. Then, one morning at work, I was scrolling through listings with coworkers, and there it was—this perfect little house. It had been listed that very day. I immediately texted Ben and our fabulous realtor, Mandy, and we scheduled a showing over lunch.
On the way there, I called Ben and said, “I think this is the one. We should probably make an offer today.” To his credit, he didn’t laugh at his very pregnant wife’s certainty. But I’m sure he was thinking, “How could you possibly know? This is the 701st house we’ve looked at!”
Well, spoiler alert: I did know. I loved the house. Apparently, so did a lot of other people because three other offers came in that same day. By some miracle—and thanks to Mandy’s magic—we got it.
And today, I can honestly say I still love it. Not just the house itself or the view of the big, beautiful field out back. It’s what came with it—our world-class neighbors.
Meet Daniel and Lauren
Daniel and Lauren live right across the street, and in just a few short months, they’ll be welcoming their second baby boy. They’re not just neighbors—they’ve become our dear friends.
On any given week, it’s pretty normal for us to borrow eggs, help each other move something heavy, or watch our boys bubble-mow each other’s driveways. During the tough times, they’ve been there for us at 1 a.m. when we had an ER emergency. And they’re always the first ones to drop off a delicious meal when we need it most.
Daniel is laid-back and always working on something cool—a project for Lauren or their son, Graham. He’s also a worship leader at our church, so it’s always fun to walk in on Sunday and see him singing and playing guitar. Lauren is possibly the sweetest person I’ve ever met. She has a soft, thoughtful demeanor and is always thinking of others. Together, they’re amazing parents and incredible cooks, and they somehow always have the best ideas for fun adventures.
Community Matters
I’m so grateful for Daniel and Lauren and the friendship we’ve built with them. It’s crazy to think that just three years ago, we didn’t even know them. Having a community like this—a group of people who love and serve each other—has been such a gift and inspires the way I approach NWA maternity photography.
As an NWA maternity photographer, I think about this kind of connection a lot. It’s the foundation of the stories I get to capture. Welcoming a baby, building a home, raising a family—these are the moments that matter. They’re worth celebrating and preserving, not just for today but for the years to come.
